Tips for Choosing the Right Installer
You’ve decided to upgrade your closets with custom closet systems. How do you choose an installer? Prepare yourself with all the right questions. The more information you have, the easier it will be to determine the best custom closet installer for the job.
Closet Installation companies will usually come to your house and do a free consultation. First, check their website for photos of the work they have done. Will they bring a portfolio to the consultation? How long as the company been in business, and are they a franchise or a small business owner? Are they licensed/insured? Are there testimonials from their clients? Do they guarantee or offer a warranty for their work, and, if so, does it extend to future owners? Have your list of questions ready:
Does installation include the cost of removing the existing shelving and patching the walls? What else does the installation include or not include?
What types of materials do you use and why? Do they offer standard 11.5-inch deep shelves only or do they offer deeper shelves, such as 16-inch?
Ask about the various levels of upgrades, from the low end to the high end, and the pricing associated with each.
What do you need to do to prepare? Should you clean out any items that will not be stored in the closet?
If you are having a more complex closet system installation, will the company prepare a design drawing to show you before starting the work?
It’s best to choose at least three companies and then compare your notes.
