closet ready for summer

Time to get your closet ready for summer! Do you still have winter sweaters, coats, scarves, gloves and hats in your closet? It’s time to put those away and get summer items in their place!

Preparation

First, take out all of the winter items. Next, decide where to store them. How about some under-the-bed storage containers? There are many options for these, ranging from plastic containers with wheels and lids to fabric storage bags with reinforced sides and zipper closure. They come in a wide variety of sizes. Make sure you carefully measure the height under your bed and take note of any metal bars or bed frame legs/posts that might prevent the storage container from sliding under the bed. How about a guest bedroom? Is there a closet in that room that has storage for your winter items? Another option is to store winter clothes in the highest shelves of your closet in labeled boxes or bins. Make sure that wherever you choose, it should be a cool, dry place.

Summer Items

Now, make room for summer items – sundresses, tank tops, t-shirts, shorts, hats, swim suits, and cover ups. If there is room, beach towels could be stored also. I like to organize my summer clothes from sleeveless to shirts to dresses and then pants. Tank tops are also hung up and in order by color. Shorts should go on pants hangers. If you don’t have room, then fold neatly and stack on a shelf or in a bin.

Now, stand back and admire! You won’t have to search through the sweaters to find the t-shirts. Winter items are now up and out of the way. Just think how quickly you can put together an outfit now, and how quickly you can find your swim suit and towels when it’s time for the beach or pool! Now you have a closet ready for summer time!
